Our social world...

Overcoming Social Anxiety and Social Phobia

Everything is going along as normal when the tingling starts in my cheeks, I try and take control and hold it back before it gets out of control. I know what is about to happen and I feels like I am hopeless and can’t do anything about it.

As I continue to walk past the group of people and approach the front of the room the tingling quickly turns into a burning sensation. I know as soon as I turn around my face is going to be glowing red and everyone is going to start to look and stare.

If you are like many of the other excessive facial blushers and social anxious people you will be able to relate very well to the above situation. Facial blushing and social anxiety is very frustrating and be a big drag on one’s life. The great news is that here are plenty of cures for blushing and social anxiety.

The best way to cure anything is to get to the root cause of the problem, even though facial blushing and social anxiety have physical symptoms that are sometimes easily displayed the root cause actually lies in your mind and your thinking.

Our mind is very much like a computer in the sense that you can run a program or give a computer a certain command and it will produce a certain result. Well our mind works in a similar way, however instead of consciously asking your mind to run a certain program it does it automatically when certain stimuli and conditions line up.

For example if you tend to blush more often when you meet someone of the opposite sex then every time you are faced with that situation your mind will start to run the program of blushing when you meet someone of the opposite sex.

This is the same thing when someone is driving and they get cut off in traffic, some people instantly get angry and start yelling at the other car, even though they can’t hear what they are saying. In this situation the person who was cut off is running the program of getting angry each time some one cuts you off.

You can stop these patterns and further more install new, better and more empowering ones. Imagine if every time you met someone attractive of the opposite sex and instead of getting all shy, anxious, sweaty and blushing you where cool, calm, relaxed and entertaining.

To learn more about how you can reprogram your mind as a cure for blushing and overcome social anxiety listen to this interview I did recently with one of the leading psychologist on social anxiety and facial blushing.
